Brenda Walker Obituary

Brenda Maxwell-Walker was born on August 25th, 1962, in England Arkansas to the late Pastor W.C. Maxwell and Hertha L. Crutchfield Maxwell. She accepted Christ at an early age at East Macedonia Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend James Brooks. She later became a member of Adams Chapel under the leadership of her late father, Pastor W.C. Maxwell. Under God’s direction, she later became a member of Second Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor Kevin A. Kelly, and later under the leadership of Dr. Maurice Watson. She was always willing to serve, volunteer and help out within the church whenever and wherever she could. She was apart of the Intercessory Prayer Ministry where she prayed and shared the word of God with ladies of the 2nd.

Brenda was a very hard worker. She spent almost 40 years working in Food Services for a local hospital where she not only devoted a countless number of hours, but also used that as a platform to spread God’s word encouraging and uplifting those around her. Her kind and loving spirit was infectious, and she made an impact on both men and women in her workplace. She was never afraid to show her love for God no matter where she was.  She was always willing to step out on faith and try new things such as going to school to get her real estate license. This was only one of the many things she accomplished.  If she thought of it, she prayed on it and went at it full force.  In her prayer closet, her daily scripture posted on her wall was Mark 11:24. Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. She ended that note with, “It’s already done”, trusting and believing God for the desires of her heart.

Brenda loved family. One of her many joys were her 5 children and her 9 grandchildren. She loved family gatherings and couldn’t wait for the holidays to gather together with family. Especially so she could prepare her infamous dressing and peach cobbler. She knew before the end of dinner her pans would be scraped clean, and she would see several family members argue over taking home the last corner of the peach cobbler with extra crust. That not only gave a good laugh but brought her great joy.

On Saturday, November 16th, 2024, she departed this life and received her wings. She left to cherish her memory her four sons Antonio Maxwell, Carlos Maxwell, Corey Walker and Reginald Walker and her only daughter, Lakisha Walker; her mother Hertha Crutchfield Maxwell, her sister Cynthia Thomas (Roderick Sr.), two brothers Willie Maxwell (Sandra) and Garry Maxwell (Gloria), Special Brother in Law Louis Wimbley, 9 grandchildren Ashtyn Maxwell, Jayden Maxwell, Myah Maxwell, Caleb Maxwell, Zaevion Walker, Zania Walker, Zamari Walker, Z’aunna Walker and Lauren Holland. She was preceded in death by her father, Pastor W.C. Maxwell, her sister Catherine Maxwell Wimbley and brother Carl Edward Maxwell. She also leaves to cherish her memory a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
