Charles Arthur Fletcher Obituary
Charles Arthur Fletcher, was born on November 15, 1953, to Norvelle and Colton Fletcher, Sr. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, Mary Fields, Margaret Wilson and Diana Williams and his beloved daughter, Amber Fletcher.
Charles and his seven siblings were raised in Little Rock, but occasionally he enjoyed the country life on his father’s family farm in Bigelow, Arkansas. Charles loved fishing, riding horses or wringing a chicken’s neck that would soon be cooked for dinner. He especially enjoyed sitting on his Daddy’s lap and driving the car home to Little Rock which of course, left his siblings terrified.
Charles attended school in Little Rock and after graduating from Metropolitan High School, he enlisted in the United States Navy on December 2, 1971, and he served honorably until May 30, 1973. Afterwards, he worked for over twenty years at the John H. McClellan Memorial Veterans Hospital and then at the Little Rock School District until retirement. Charles always appreciated keeping himself and everything around him stylish, neat and organized and he used that gift to maintain the property where he resided on behalf of his sister Rose Mems and Kelly Tucker for Arprorealty Real Estate Agency.
The greatest joy in Charles Fletcher’s life was his children. He loved laughing, hanging out and cooking his specialty pig feet and white beans meal for them as often as possible. His memory will forever be cherished by his children Shanga Fletcher (Tanja), Charles Baker, Carlos Fletcher, Romere Knight, and Shannon Chapman (Kortney). He is also survived by his siblings, James Fletcher, Sr. (Cassandra), Colton Fletcher, Jr., Rosemary Mems (Allen), and Denese Fletcher, ten grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a host of cousins, other relatives and dear friends.
