Charles Stewart, 87, of England, Arkansas, went to be with the Lord on July 11, 2022. He was born on February 8, 1935, in Lake Village, Arkansas to the late Lucious Stewart and Lillian Bargin. Charles grew up in Chicago, Illinois and later moved to England, Arkansas, where in 1956, he married Irene Anderson, and to that union five (5) children were born.
He was employed by A.P.T. Construction Company for several years. In 1972, he became self employed and operated Charles Stewart Asphalt & Blacktopping until he was no longer able to work. Charles professed his life to Christ late in life. On March 9, 2014, he was baptized by Rev. Sylvester VanBuren II at Progressive Church in Scott, Arkansas. Charles later attended Second Baptist Church in England, Arkansas, under the leadership of Rev. Darrell L. Montgomery, until his health failed
Charles was preceded in death by his mother, Lillian (Bargin) Nellum; three sisters, Reola Nellum, Leola (Nellum) Surratt, and Rose L. (Bargin) Graves; and two brothers, Onie Stewart and Emmitt Stewart.
Charles leaves in his passing, his wife of 65 years, Irene Stewart; two sons, Charles Dwayne Stewart (Cynthia) of Little Rock, Arkansas; Gerald Stewart of Irving, Texas; three daughters, Linda Solee (Dale) of Walnut Creek, California; Brenda Coleman (John) of Little Elm, Texas; and Vickie Stewart of Little Rock, Arkansas; thirteen grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; three nieces, Flora Nellum-Lagerwall (Ted) of Chattanooga, Tennessee; Irma Chamberlain and Betty Nellum of Chicago, Illinois; and a host of friends, neighbors and others who came to love him during his lifetime.
