Mr. Howard Clarence Baker was born October 6, 1937, in North Little Rock, Arkansas to the late Henry and Ruby Baker. He was raised in the peaceful, family-friendly neighborhood of Brushy Island. Mr. Baker was a lifelong resident there and was well known in the community for his love of small engine mechanics - especially cars. He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, better known as “The Baker Brothers”: Donald (Moose) Baker, Carthan (June) Baker, Herbert Lee Baker, and Thurman (Sugar Doll) Baker.
Mr. Howard Clarence Baker’s love of cars led him to a thriving career as a mechanic. He was employed by Otasco, Inc. in Little Rock as a Master Mechanic. After his retirement, he became owner/operator of a wrecker service and gas station, while continuing to provide after-hours mechanic services for his family and friends as well as his beloved neighbors and community members.
Mr. Baker was a member of St. Luke Baptist Church. His membership remained there until God called him home on February 22, 2025.
He leaves to cherish his memory two sons, Kevin C. Baker and Fredrick D. Baker, both of Little Rock, Arkansas; four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. To God be the Glory.
