Joseph C. Smith was born in Lake Village, Arkansas on May 23, 1948 to the late Aserea Turner and Joseph C. Smith, Sr. He attended public school in Eudora before working in the fields with his father. He was raised alongside his siblings in Louisiana. In 1972, after the death of their mother he and his sibling relocated to Little Rock, AR. He was affectionately known by many as Joe, Jr., June Boone and Black Superman. He departed from this life on May 12, 2025, at 5:00 am. He always enjoyed visiting with family and friends, watching western movies and cracking jokes. He worked at Regal “Club Products” in Jacksonville until it closed and later worked 15 years at Arkla Gas Company until his health failed.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph C. Smith, Sr; mother, Aserae Marie Smith; 2 brothers, Andrew Smith and James Smith; 4 sisters, Estelle Smith, Isabella Smith, Patricia Smith and Mary Smith.
He leaves to cherish his fond memories; one son, Marcus Meadows; grandsons, Meryck Maxton and Maziah Meadows; two brothers, Gary (Rolene) Smith and Donald (Shirley) Smith; three sisters, Pauline Smith, Bobbie Smith and Marie Wright; a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and special friends.
Joseph “Joe” Smith was loved by all who knew him and will be deeply missed.
