Lula Junior Obituary

Lula Bell Junior was born on May 24, 1933, in Pastoria, Arkansas to, the late Sherrill and Pearl
Short. Lula was the youngest of five daughters. Her four sisters are deceased names; Rosie
Haymon, Earline Anderson, Josie Gary, and Icie Bigham. Lula was married to Firdia Byrd Jr.
and William Junior (both deceased). She confessed to Christ at a young age and became a
member of Morris Chapel B.C. Years later, she became a member of Bethlehem B.C. under the
leadership of the late Rev. Weaver of Pine Bluff. AR.

In 1987, after retiring in the field of Home Health Care Assistant.
She moved to California, residing in the cities of Los Angeles & San Bernardino. In January
2016, she moved back to Pine Bluff, where she became a resident at Whispering Knolls
Assistance Living. She joined and became a member of First Missionary B.C. Rev. Charles S.
Boyd, Pastor. In 2019 she returned to San Bernardino, CA, to reunite with family.
Lula was a "Sociable" person and with a great memory. She loved gospel music especially, those
hand-clapping, toe-tapping, guitar playing songs. With secular music, her favorite songs were by
Muddy Waters. She enjoyed playing bingo, shopping, and going to the beauty and nail salon. As
her children, we can all agree that looking back over the years, Mama never complained!! There
were times when she was going through some health complications and when asked how she was
doing or feeling, her response would be, "I feel okay, and I am doing all right." For the last
several years her, phone conversations always ended with, "I am praying for you and the whole
family"!

The Lord blessed Lula with eleven children. Three sons (deceased) Charlie Byrd, Joe Lewis
Golden, and Michael Nowden. She leaves to cherish her memories of four sons; Firdia Byrd III
(Harriet), of Little Rock, AR, Larry C. Byrd (Dorothy), Pine Bluff, AR, Kenneth Wayne Junior,
Torrance, CA, and Darrin Junior, San Bernardino, CA. Four daughters; Deborah Jones (Johnny)
and Carolyn Henderson, of Pine Bluff, AR, Richetta Benard (Murphy) of Good
year, AZ, and
Brenda Junior of San Bernardino, CA.
Twenty grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends
