Rev. Ricky L. Calhoun, Sr. was born on March 13, 1953 to the late Mamie White in North Little Rock, AR.   At an early age, Mr. Calhoun confessed the hope of Jesus Christ. He transitioned to be with his Lord and Savior on August 3, 2019.

Ricky Calhoun graduated from Jacksonville High School in 1971 and made the decision to serve his country he enlisted in the United States Air Force. He served during the tumultuous Vietnam War Era and in Germany, he fought bravely for his country in Vietnam.  With the same fortitude, Ricky’s spirit of service led him to answer his call to the ministry of Christ Jesus. He was a devoted minister and servant at King Solomon Baptist Church for over 30 years.

He met his wife, Jearldine, at the Arkansas Veteran’s Hospital and wed in holy matrimony in 1976. Together they raised two children, Nicole L. Calhoun and Ricky L. Calhoun, Jr.

Ricky was passionate about serving people and had a passion for the funeral business.  He attended Dallas Institute of Funeral Services where he graduated as a licensed Funeral Director. His journey into the funeral business began at OT Smith Funeral Home and later on to Dubbinson Funeral Home.  It was the late 80’s when Ricky ventured off to start Calhoun Funeral Home on Main Street in North Little Rock. As his passion grew, business grew and moved into a bigger facility in Southwest Little Rock. In 2017 he became Chief Executive of his sons’ funeral home (Gary Brown & Ricky Calhoun) of Brown-Calhoun Funeral Service. He also a proud member of the Masonic Protho Lodge #281 in North Little Rock, AR.

He was preceded in death by his mother Mamie White, his grandparents William and Annie Calhoun, his aunts Ocie Calhoun and Mattie Calhoun, his uncle's Ralph Calhoun, Marshall Calhoun, Leonard Calhoun, and man’s best friend, Mac.

Mr. Ricky Calhoun was one known to enjoy fishing, hunting, and sitting on his front porch, but he will forever be remembered as a man who has left an everlasting legacy for his love for family, passion for serving families, but most of all his devotion to a living a committed life to the creator of his beginning life and eternal life.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years Jearldine Calhoun, two children Nicole L. Calhoun, Ricky L. Calhoun, Jr. (Lorin); bonus son Gary Brown, Jr, seven grandchildren Ricky Calhoun, III, Dyllan Calhoun, Josiah Hildreth, Jordan Calhoun, Alyssa Calhoun, Lailia Calhoun, and Timothy Calhoun; two brothers Marshall White (Terri) and Danny White; five sisters, Ann Taylor (Donnie), Sandra Spencer (Charles), Cynthia White, Lisa Macon, and Conzy Burns; one uncle Jessie Calhoun; three aunts Lois Harris, Barbara Franklin, and Gladys Calhoun and a host of other relatives and friends.
