Roosevelt (Roos) Butler was born October 23, 1936, in Tillar, Arkansas to the late Charlie and Carrie Butler.
He was a 1955 graduate of Wolfe Project High School where he displayed his talent in basketball. Roosevelt’s love for all sports often had him watching television for hours.
He confessed his life to Christ at an early age, later in life he became a member of Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor DJ Buffington.
Roosevelt was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, great-great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
God called him home on Monday, July 14, 2025, at Belleview Estates Rehabilitation and Care Center after a short stay. He is preceded in death by: his parents, his brothers: Joe Gibson, Lee Polean Butler, Theodis Butler and Bennie J Butler, his sisters: Lucille Summers, Virginia Butler and Willie Mae Butler. The love of his life Gloria J Gray of Monticello, AR; his daughters, Linda (Roscoe) Foster of Milwaukee, WI, Marcella King-Stewart of Conway, AR, Lavern Esters of Little Rock, AR, Dr. Deborah (David) McCloud of Fredericksburg, VA; sons Bryan Keith (Alisa) Butler of Indiana, Donnell Butler of Monticello, AR, Hercules (Kimyatta) of Mansfield, TX; brothers, Ira (Daisy) Butler, Roy (Inez) Butler of River Beach, FL and Charles Butler of Tampa, FL; 17 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, 12 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
